Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Russell Maedgen
Let me take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born in Austin, Texas, and earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Texas and a master's degree in Education Administration from the University of Virginia. I have 27 years of experience in public education. Prior to LBJHS, I served ten years as principal at the middle school level, four years as a middle school assistant principal, and two years as a high school assistant principal. Before moving into administration, I was a special education teacher at the elementary and middle school levels.
I am excited to begin my 3rd year as principal of LBJHS and my 7th year with JCISD. My hope for this school year is a return to normalcy. The last two years have been filled with tremendous challenge as we navigated COVID and the impact the pandemic had on education. One of the benefits of being at LBJ High School, and in a more rural setting, is that we were able to carry on much better than many of the more urban high schools. That being said, there is still much work to be done as we return to in person instruction and address issues related to learning loss that have taken place over the past two years.
I look forward to this year and working to develop an excellent school where students receive an exemplary education and experience a wide range of extracurricular and athletic opportunities. Do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have a question, concern, or just want to share a great idea. I can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (830) 868-4025.
