• A Message from the Superintendent...RKolek

Welcome students and parents to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am extremely humbled and honored to begin my 4th year as Superintendent of Johnson City ISD and my 28th year in education.  Each year as the first day of school approaches, I get more excited about facing the challenges a new year brings. The challenges caused by a global pandemic become the opportunities to reimagine and redesign public education.

This year, we face unique challenges in our efforts to provide on-site and remote instruction for our students. Conditions continue to change on a daily basis.  Meeting these changing needs is likely to require continual review and varying degrees of modification to traditional procedures and practices. Flexibility, coupled with a continued commitment to meeting the needs of students, will be key to our success.

The staff of JCISD will continue to work together with parents and community members to create a culture where high expectations are the norm and all efforts are taken to ensure all students are provided a challenging academic experience and extra-curricular opportunities.

It is our greatest hope that conditions related to COVID-19 will improve throughout the year and we can welcome more students back to campus and begin to transition to a more traditional school day. However, this pandemic has taught us that conditions can change quickly and we must adapt in order to keep our students and staff safe.

    Respectfully,

    Richard Kolek
