A Message from the Superintendent...
Welcome students and parents to the 2020-2021 school year! I am extremely humbled and honored to begin my 4th year as Superintendent of Johnson City ISD and my 28th year in education. Each year as the first day of school approaches, I get more excited about facing the challenges a new year brings. The challenges caused by a global pandemic become the opportunities to reimagine and redesign public education.
This year, we face unique challenges in our efforts to provide on-site and remote instruction for our students. Conditions continue to change on a daily basis. Meeting these changing needs is likely to require continual review and varying degrees of modification to traditional procedures and practices. Flexibility, coupled with a continued commitment to meeting the needs of students, will be key to our success.
The staff of JCISD will continue to work together with parents and community members to create a culture where high expectations are the norm and all efforts are taken to ensure all students are provided a challenging academic experience and extra-curricular opportunities for both on-site and remote students.
It is our greatest hope that conditions related to COVID-19 will improve throughout the fall and we can welcome more students back to campus and begin to transition to a more traditional school day. However, this pandemic has taught us that conditions can change quickly and we must adapt in order to keep our students and staff safe.
