Dear Johnson City ISD Parents/Guardians:
In accordance with the Texas Education Code 37.1141, school districts are required to notify the community when conducting active threat exercises on district property.
On Saturday, January 31, Johnson City ISD will conduct an active threat exercise at LBJ Middle School, and on Sunday, February 1, a second exercise will be conducted at LBJ High School. These exercises will include simulation activities that mimic active threat events. Community residents may hear loud sounds coming from the campuses and may observe activity that could resemble a real emergency. Local law enforcement and first responders will be notified of the training in advance. Students will not be involved in these exercises.
The training is being developed and conducted by law enforcement-trained and credentialed professionals and is designed to ensure the safety and security of all participants. Johnson City ISD will use feedback and data gathered from these exercises to further strengthen district safety protocols.
The safety and security of our staff and students remain a top priority. If you have any questions regarding this training, please contact me at 830-868-7410.
Respectfully,
Ben Eubanks
Superintendent of Schools
